Born in Milton-Freewater of Irish immigrants Arthur and Catherine Milne, Pat's early years were spent traveling through Oregon and Washington with her family and living in construction camp sites while her father worked on the construction of many of the state's first roads. The family settled in Northeast Portland where Pat attended Alameda Grade School and graduated from Grant High School in 1939. Upon graduation, she attended Walkers Business College where she met her future husband. After finishing college, she went to work for Title and Trust Company.

She married in June 1945 and continued her career, supporting her husband through medical school and his post-graduate medical training. She retired in 1949 as the assistant treasurer of the title company and started her family. While raising her family she found time to be one of the founders and a longtime member of Providence Portland Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed time at the coast, traveling, antiquing, reading, gardening and, most of all, spending time with her family.

Pat is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dr. Oren R. Richards Jr.; sons, Wayne, Jeffrey, Brian and Guy; daughters-in-law, Janice, Sandra and Cynthia; three grandchildren; and her brother, Arthur Milne. In loving memory ... You will be greatly missed; may you rest in peace.

A private memorial service will be in River View Cemetery, Portland. The family suggests remembrances to DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital or The Oregon Humane Society,
