Natural Funerals

A client choosing natural burial will typically also desire a natural funeral.  River View Cemetery Funeral Home offers a variety of options that can serve to lower the ecological impact of the funeral arrangements.  For example:

• Preservation can be attained by using refrigeration, dry ice, or non-toxic embalming methods instead of formaldehyde-based embalming.
• A wide range of caskets are available that are fully biodegradable.  We offer caskets that are manufactured from materials such as willow, bamboo, seagrass or all natural wood.  They are made without metal hinges, handles, or latches and with all natural interiors, especially for the client committed to protecting the environment.
• Memorial folders and other printed materials are available that are printed on recycled paper.
• Reception services are available through local caterers who provide natural, organic foods; fair-trade coffees and teas; as well as plates and napkins made from recycled materials.
